Attending a Zoom meeting with MTR

Note: we recommend using Microsoft Teams, partly because of its user-friendliness. Nevertheless, you can participate in a Zoom meeting with an MTR setup by following the steps below.


Steps you can take in advance:

  1. Go to https://vu-live.zoom.us and click Sign in.

  2. Log in with your VUnet. Then click on the 'Schedule a meeting' button on the right.

  3. Enter the desired information for the meeting, such as duration and title. Click Save when you're done.

  4. Next to 'Add to' you will find three options; click on 'Outlook Calendar (.ics).' A file is now downloading.

  5. Open the file in Outlook; in most cases you can simply open the file, otherwise you can drag the file into your Outlook calendar overview.

  6. A screen will open with which you can adjust the appointment; click the 'Location' button.

  7. Search for the MTR room you want to add and add it. Add additional attendees if necessary.

  8. Press 'Save', or 'Send' if you have added people.


In the room itself:

  1. First join the Zoom meeting from your own device, with the account you used to create the meeting.

  2. You will see your appointment with the Zoom icon on the Teams control panel. Click 'Deelnemen (or Join)'.

  3. Now the Zoom meeting will start automatically.

  4. Do you want to turn off the microphone and/or video? First click on 'Op dit beeldscherm weergeven (or Show on this screen)' at the bottom left of the Teams control panel. Now you can adjust all available options to your liking.
